Well, May was a very busy month for International Missions trip in the life of One Church, with teams representing 4 of our One Church Expressions visiting Belarus, Belgium and Austria – all in the same week!
The stories are starting to circulate already – here are a few from some of the One Church team members and Missions Partners:
Belarus – Flourish
This was my first International Mission trip and my heart was ready to serve…
On the mother pamper day we were given a gift – A necklace handmade from clay that could be filled with sweet smelling incense – it reminded me of this passage of scripture:
2 Corinthians 2:15-16
“For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things?”
This summed up the trip for me as we served the villagers, mothers and children. We could not speak the language so the only way we could show and communicate His love was through our actions. My prayer is that the women and children we served would recognise the sweet life giving fragrance through our acts of service. Our adequacy is always from God – despite our personal circumstances and inadequacy. God kept his eye on us, protecting us as we worked for him.
I love Belarus and I left a piece of my heart there.
We spent 3 days in Belgium with Lauro & Rosane, with the main aim of running a full days kids programme. It was the first time they had ever attempted something like this and it was a massive success. Over 20 children came and had great fun learning about what it means to build your life on a solid foundation like Jesus. Lots of crazy games, magic demos, cooking challenges, quizzes and relationship building went on throughout the packed days programme. Many kids’ lives were changed as they started to open up about their personal problems and we were able to share how Jesus can help them. We also had the chance to input into the Friday night prayer and prophesy meeting, run Sunday school, and preach on the Sunday morning meeting. The church in Liege is growing, lots of new faces were there and there is a real freedom atmosphere in the house where God is moving. On the way back we passed via Amsterdam for a few days to catch some old friends and relax after a manic weekend!
A letter from an Austrian pastor:
For the last three days we received a team of nine people from One Church here in the LIFE Church Hermagor. These were three of the best days that many of us have experienced. The servant heart and all the time your team invested in our people has left all of us very touched. Every day with them was a special gift from God.
Two women from our church have for the first time experienced the baptism in the Holy Spirit and began to speak in tongues. Even the prayer walk through our city with your people was very powerful. You have such wonderful people in your church.
I want to say thank you, that you sent us such wonderful people. We have linked a bond of friendship and I am convinced it will bring wonderful fruits.
These nine people from your church have left deep traces of love in us.
