The Bible describes Jesus as our prophet, priest and king. If we could understand these roles more we can strengthen our relationship and understanding of Him. With Jesus as our high priest he doesn’t just mediate between us and God, Hebrews says he’s our forerunner towards God’s presence.

Series: Jesus: Prophet, Priest and King, Part 1
The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and useless (for the law made nothing perfect), and a better hope is introduced, by which we draw near to God.
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to feel sympathy for our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are – yet he did not sin.
We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest for ever, in the order of Melchizedek.
