Dads & Lads Camping
Calling all ‘Dads & Lads’ – We are again joining together across all One Church expressions for a weekend of fun, fellowship and food – plus a few games and generally outdoorsy type stuff at TRAC, Newent.
For those who have been before it’s a similar format, for those who haven’t you’ve a treat in store!
We get there on the Friday (from 15:00 onwards) and it’s a time to chill out as guys together, enjoying the facilities on site, a good walk up and around May Hill followed by some more structured fun and games in the afternoon. Saturday evening brings the legendary bonfire – great thing at TRAC is they let us build a massive one! Then we get some time thinking and praying together as ‘Dads & Lads.’
This is a great time together, just check with anyone who’s been before and they’ll tell you!

1. Where is the Tom Roberts Adventure Centre?
Tom Roberts Adventure Centre
Yates Farm, Malswick, near Newent, GL18 1HE
Go to website https://www.tracnewent.org.uk/
2. What are the arrival and finish times?
- Friday – Very open and relaxed but you can turn up any time after 15:00. Site close at 23:00.
- Saturday – Site opens at 09:00, closes at 23:00.
- Sunday – Leave site by 12:00.
3. What are the eating arrangements?
As its camping (plus indoors for some of us) it’s all self-catering, with camping stoves and BBQs the usual favourites. We are able to use the fridges and cupboards within the main complex, so you can store food and drink in there if that’s helpful. There will be a mega marquee/gazebo area for ‘communal cooking’! The aim is to bring us all together, both those inside and outside so we don’t operate as two camps.
4. Sleeping indoors – do I need to bring bedding?
No. Sheets, pillows/cases are provided – but bring some warm covers – either a decent
sleeping bag, duvet or blanket – the central heating isn’t on, so think of it as camping inside and pack accordingly.
5. Sleeping outdoors – what do I bring?
A good tent, camping gear and given the weather at the moment a very warm sleeping bag, decent sleeping mat/air bed etc. etc. If you have pre-booked electric hook-up, please see one of the event organisers when you arrive.
6. What does the walk consist of?
As before we will be visiting a very visible Gloucestershire landmark – May Hill. We will drive to the parking area from where the walk originates; it’s meant to take around an hour, plus a stop at the top. Guessing by that time of year it may be muddy in places so bring some good walking shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty.
7. Can we have a campfire?
Yes! A real must for these events and there’s a great area for this on site and they even
provide all the firewood for us.
8. Who should I contact with any questions?
- Bookings and payments – Tom Geatches
- Other admin and Indoor room allocations – Paul Cresswell
